SAFETY, SUPERVISION, AND CONDUCT
1. Student Drop-Off & Pick-Up
All minor students must be walked into the studio and walked out of the studio by a parent, guardian, or authorized adult.
Students must not leave the building unattended. Parents and guardians are responsible for on-time pick-up.
Parents are expected to pick their child up within 10 minutes of their scheduled end to class. If parents are later than 10 minutes, it will result in a $5 per minute charge to the parents' account.
NorthStar movement staff are responsible for students only during their scheduled class or approved studio activity.
2. Competition Program
Students participating in NorthStar Movement competition are currently required to participate in at least two Strength, Conditioning and Technique classes per month as directed by the studio. Additional competition requirements may be added as the program develops.
3. Student Supervision
Students inside NorthStar studio must be either in their scheduled class or in the designated waiting area.
Students will not wander through hallways, studios, offices, storage areas, or other areas of the facility.
4. Student Behavior & Discipline
Students are expected to follow instructor directions, treat others respectfully, use appropriate language, participate safely, treat Studio property and equipment respectfully, and avoid intentionally disrupting class.
Step 1 - Verbal reminder or redirection
Step 2- Temporary removal from the activity
Step 3- Removal from class for the day with parent or guardian contact followed by a behavior/incident report
Step 4- Written improvement plan
Step 5- Permanent removal from the class or NorthStar Movement program
Repeated behavior that interferes with safety, instruction, or the experience of others may result in removal from the program. Serious incidents involving violence, threats, bullying, harassment, intentional injury, or other significant safety concerns may result in immediate removal and may bypass the normal progression.
NorthStar Movement has a zero-tolerance policy of bullying, mistreatment, harassment, or any threatening behaviors made to or about our students or staff, in person, through text, on social media, etc. This may result in immediate removal of parents from NorthStar Movement, or your child from the program.
5. Water Bottle Policy
Every student must bring a clearly labeled water bottle to every class. Students should arrive with enough water for the full class and should not share water bottles.
6. Dance Dress Code
Students must arrive in clothing and footwear appropriate for their scheduled class. (See dress code policy for requirements).
Students who repeatedly arrive without required attire or footwear may be asked to observe rather than participate.
ATTENDANCE, HEALTH, AND STUDIO USE
7. Attendance & Absences
Regular attendance is strongly encouraged. Parents should notify NorthStar Movement when a student will be absent.
Monthly tuition reserves the student's position in the program and is not reduced for individual absences. If a child will be gone for an extended time (3 or more weeks for family vacation, temporary move, etc) you can choose to continue to pay your child's tuition to reserve their spot in the program, or you may unenroll. If you choose to unenroll from all classes, this will result in paying another registration fee upon reenrollment.
8. Illness
Students should not attend class when sick, contagious, or unable to participate safely. If a student becomes ill during class, a parent, guardian, or emergency contact may be asked to pick the student up.
9. Injuries & Participation
Students should tell their instructor immediately about an injury or pain. Parents must inform NorthStar Movement of restrictions or circumstances that may affect safe participation.
An instructor may restrict participation when continuing an activity creates a reasonable safety concern.
If your child is injured, they are encouraged to attend as an observant to their scheduled classes.
10. Waiting Room & Parent Conduct
The waiting area is a shared space. Families should keep noise reasonable, respect classes in progress, keep belongings organized and supervise children who are not currently in class. Children will not run, play, or wander through the studio.
FINANCIAL POLICIES
11. Monthly Tuition
Tuition is billed monthly and reserves the student's position in enrolled classes.
Monthly tuition is due on the 1st of each month and covers that month's scheduled instruction. Tuition remains due regardless of individual attendance.
Students enrolling after the normal monthly billing date must pay any amount due at the time of enrollment.
Students will be assigned a $25 deposit per costume per class they will be performing in recital with, this will be due November 15. The costume deposit does go toward the total cost of the costume.
Costumes are the financial responsibility of the parent and will not be released until paid in full.
12. Payment Due Date & Grace Period
Monthly tuition is due on the 1st of each month. Any family account with an unpaid balance after the 10th will be assessed a $15 late fee beginning on the 11th.
The late fee is assessed once per family account, not once per student.
Payment arrangements may be made by contacting NorthStar Management.
13. Past-Due Accounts
Accounts remaining unpaid at the end of the month may result in suspension of student participation until the balance is paid or a payment arrangement is approved by Dani or designated NorthStar staff.
Continued or repeated unresolved balances may result in removal from the program or restriction from future registration.
14. Payment Methods & Auto-Pay
NorthStar Movement accepts Auto-Pay, credit/debit card, check, cash, and other approved payment methods available through Studio Pro.
Auto-Pay is optional. Families may choose the payment method that works best for them.
Families enrolled in Auto-Pay authorize NorthStar Movement to process approved tuition and account charges according to the regular billing schedule.
Checks should be made payable to NorthStar Movement. Cash payments must be given directly to authorized staff or deposited into the designated drop box, recorded on the family account, and a receipt provided.
15. Declined or Returned Payments
If a payment is declined or returned, the family must promptly provide another valid form of payment and bring the account current.
Any returned-payment, bank, or payment-processing fee actually charged to NorthStar Movement will be added to the responsible family account when applicable. An unsuccessful payment does not extend the normal due date.
16. Family Discounts
Approved sibling discounts are applied according to NorthStar Movement’s current family-discount schedule.
Students must be connected to the same family account to receive the discount.
Sibling order will be determined according to NorthStar's current tuition and family-discount procedures.
Family discounts may be reviewed pending enrollment changes such as adding or dropping a class.
17. Withdrawal From Class
A parent or guardian must provide a written notice to withdraw a student from a class or program.
Stopping attendance, verbally telling an instructor, or simply not returning does not constitute withdrawal.
Written notice must be provided through an approved NorthStar Movement communication method.
Upon receipt of written notice, the student will be permitted to attend class for the remainder of that month.
Upon the 1st of the next month, tuition will be stopped and the student will be dropped from that class.
Withdrawal from class does not constitute refunds of any manner.
18. Studio Closures & Class Cancellations
NorthStar Movement may cancel or adjust classes because of weather, emergencies, instructor illness, or other circumstances affecting safe operations as necessary. When practical, NorthStar Movement instructors may provide a make-up class, alternate class, or another reasonable scheduling option.
NorthStar Movement will have a predetermined schedule with planned closures. Closure information will be communicated as soon as reasonably possible. Studio closures due to extenuating circumstances do not require a make-up class.
FAMILY INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION
19. Parent/Guardian Information
Families are responsible for keeping their Studio Pro account current, including contact information, emergency contacts, authorized pick-up persons, relevant student medical/allergy information, and payment information when applicable.
20. Authorized Pick-Up
Parents and guardians are responsible for identifying authorized pick-up persons. NorthStar Movement may refuse to release a student when staff cannot reasonably confirm that the person is authorized.
Authorized pick-up persons must be notified via a written form to the studio.
21. Parent Questions & Concerns
Questions about a student, instructor, behavior concern, billing issue, or other studio matter should be directed to NorthStar Movement staff or management.
Parents should avoid extended discussions with instructors immediately before or during scheduled classes.
A separate conversation may be scheduled when more time is needed.
